I haven’t been keeping up with my blog posts about my reading challenge goal, but I’m definitely charging ahead in the challenge itself. I guess I have my priorities straight? Yeah, I’m asking. I think I do, But I’m reading a lot, so maybe not.
I really wanted to use this post to give a shout-out to some noteworthy titles I’ve recently read.
Deep Under by Lisa Renee Jones
I’m a sucker for Romantic Suspense, and LRJ does it wonderfully. In fact, I’d probably put her right up there with Linda Howard and J.D. Robb (Nora Roberts’ Suspense Pseudonym) , and that’s high praise in my book. (hahaha my book. I make myself laugh). Deep Under is loosely tied to the Tall, Dark, and Deadly series, but can be read as a standalone. Steamy and very tense.
Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum
Could be classified as a YA (Young Adult) novel, but I’d highly recommend it to all ages. It was heartbreakingly sweet and a wonderful testament to making it through a difficult time in one’s life. The lead character had a very rough time of things, and she received a steadily building support system through the course of the story that restored my faith in humanity and gave me a warm and fuzzy feeling.
Replay by Ken Grimwood
This is the book that I’m most conflicted about. I can find no fault with the story or the writing, and the recommendations I got came from such highly regarded sources I couldn’t say no to reading it. With that caveat, I have to say that I closed out the book feeling quite uneasy. For the first time in a long time I had trouble putting words to my emotions. I wasn’t sad or angry or even ambivalent. There was just something… weird about it. I don’t want to spoil the book for anyone, so I won’t get into details, but it contained a subject matter that hit one of my hot buttons, and that may have been the trouble. If I find a book that touches on that particular issue, I usually pack it in and close up shop. I read this one until the last page, and I’m thinking I was unsettled by that particular plot point.
Return of the Bad Boy by Jessica Lemmon

The Obsession by Nora Roberts
Creepy to the Nth degree, but OH SO GOOD. I was freaking riveted from page one on, and I just can’t tell you how great this book was. If you wanna feel good about your dysfunctional family, you simply CANNOT go wrong with this one. And it’s got a bit of everything. Romance, Suspense, Thriller, Action, even some Horror and Gore. Nothing in the extreme, but if that tantalizes, you should check it out.
