Well, it’s official – I’m insane. I guess the glasses have reverse-Clarked me. I’m still not reading quite as fast as I used to, but I am BLOWING through these books. I may revise my goal upwards since I’m still way ahead, we’ll see.
Finally got to “Ready Player One” by Ernest Cline and I have to say it was AMAZING. I’ve already sung it’s praises to several people, and I’ll do so until I get it out of my system. It’s like it was written for me and my ilk… gamers, geeks, seekers of answers; it was everything I was expecting and more.
I also read “dibs” by Kristi Pelton, and while I liked it, I kinda felt like it was a bipolar story. I was almost confused as to whether it was poorly structured or not. Have you ever read a book like that? Hard to explain if you’ve never experienced it. It had a secondary story that seemed a bit out of place, even though it was woven through without seeming forced. Just weird. Good, but head-tilty. I might’ve gone on to another of her books, but the feeling I had after “dibs” left me wanting to switch things up.
Now I’m re-reading the Lost in Oblivion series by Cari Quinn & Taryn Elliott. I’ve already read the first three books, but now I’m hitting those again in order to refresh myself for the last books of the series. I already moved on to the spin-off (Manaconda) without losing a beat (see what I did there? They’re band books), but I was jonesing to go back to my Oblivion men and see what happened to Nick and Simon. I’m at the point where Nick is still a huge asshole, and Simon is riding his coattails, but I know that changes as we get closer to their soulmate meetings. (I’m guessing that’s Lila and Violin Girl btw)
I’m actually not sure whether to include the books I’ve already read in my challenge total. Charles Skaggs (<—you should totally follow him btw), my co-host for “The Fandom Zone“, says I should, but I read those much faster – so I’m still on the fence.
So that’s it for now. I have some promo stuff to do today, and the week ahead is a busy one. I’ll most likely down about 3 or 4 books (not including the 3 Oblivions I’ve already got under my belt) by the end of this week.
