Z & Cinder’s Blog Challenge #21: Letting the Cat Out of My Bags

As most of you already know, I have several “Vanilla” WoW characters. I’ve also already admitted that yes, I am a hoarder. Aedaria, my main, is the character this affects the most. Her bags and bank are always so close to being full that it’s just not funny.

Does Void Storage help? Well, it did, before they changed how transmogging worked. Now that you don’t have to have the item to use the appearance, she has room for stuff in there, but not much to put in it. She keeps sentimental items, like the Zandalar Madcap’s Tunic and the full Undead Slayer’s Blessed Armor set. She also has a Windslicer Boomerang (depreciated) since Rogues don’t use throwing knives in item form, Winterfin Patch of Honor, and Cookie’s Tenderizer.

She keeps some old dungeon specific stuff too, like Violet Signet of the Master Assassin, Signet Ring of the Bronze Dragonflight, Drakefire Amulet, Master Dragonslayer’s Ring, and Onyxia Scale Cloak. She also throws recent gear in there just in case she feels like her last “upgrade” isn’t working.

Let’s talk about Aedaria’s personal bank.  Before we start, I’m gonna say this right up front. Yes, I know there are things I should get rid of. In fact, this post may be the impetus for me to do that very thing. In the meantime, lemme tell you what Aedaria keeps hidden away with the bankers of Azeroth. (and Outland and Draenor)

Food. Firstly and most importantly, food. A Rogue is NOTHING without buff food, recovery food, and now there’s a new kind of food, Crispy Bacon! As of right this minute, she has 411 Festival Dumplings on hand. I buy those up like hotcakes every year because they are AMAZING for getting back health out of combat. Right now she’s using Azshari Salad (169 on hand), and Barracuda Mrglgagh (86 on hand). I do the bacon world quest every time I see it, (or them if we’re lucky), so she has 114 Crispy Bacon in the bank too. She tends to be really resilient, so extending the food buff for an hour is quite handy.

She has all kinds of crafting mats there as well. Even a few leftovers from MoP. She’s a Tailor/Engineer, so there’s cloth, leather, ore, and then the basic mats like thread and BoS, etc. She has herbs for cooking – which boggles my mind, but whatevs. Speaking of cooking, Aedaria has every recipe (except Moongraze Tenderloin because BLIZZARD TOOK IT FROM ME), so she has quite a few food mats.

Her bank is also fully stocked with holiday items, things that are labeled “unique” (therefore disqualifying them from void storage), and every fishing pole known to forsaken. As a Rogue, it’s also her duty to keep her Crate of Kidnapped Puppies locked in the vault – I mean, she’s gotta stay in character, right?

I guess we gotta talk about her inventory now, right? *shudder* Here’s the worst part. Hearthstones. THREE, plus she keeps the Admiral’s Compass as well. Getting to a main city fast is a good thing, and using a Garrison is an easy way to do it. She also has the Cloak of Coordination for the same reason. Treasure maps for all five Legion regions, various engineering gadgets, plus food, food and more food.

Rogues have an additional space taken up with the Uncrowned Insignia, which they use to get in and out of their class hall. Rogues can also pick up goodies there via Marin Noggenfogger, and I can’t use them up faster than I get new ones. Bombs, throwing daggers, boots, thistle tea, battle potions… *sigh*

She’s also leveled in Archaeology, so there’s all kinds of keystones littered about, and then the odds and ends like Battle Standard of Coordination, Secretive Whistle, Stormforged Grapple Launcher, Jeeves (can we make that a toy already?), Beginner’s Guide to Dimensional Rifting, the ever-useless Intra-Dalaran Wormhole Generator, Brazier of Awakening, and Repurposed Fel Focuser.

So now you know my dirty secrets. Should I hire a professional Rogue Organizer?

  1. Your inventory thought process sounds perfectly normal to me! And I keep two cloaks – the fast and the long – just in case!

    1. Why thank you! I don’t feel nearly as crazy after sharing. And I’d probably have more than one if she wasn’t an engineer. Wormholes, wormholes, wormholes. 🙂

  2. Thank Elune that things stack to 200 now!
Funny moment, I found myself trying to mouse over your bags to see what the things were!

    1. Darnit. I thought you meant the dumplings stacked. I heard the price is right fail when I tried to consolidate. 🙁

Also, if you’d like to know what any of the items are, let me know – I’d be happy to fill you in. If it helps, I do that all the time. When I see items on twitter, I hover my mouse over them to see what they are, and then I’m incredibly embarrassed when I figure out that I’m an idiot. Also, I’ve tried to move the camera angle on twitch. Now THAT’S dumb. 🙂

  3. Hey Karen, I just found your site here, it’s lovely!

Your bags are so organized O.o I don’t want to show mine, hah!

I had no idea about the Uncrowned Insignia, that is such a neat item. I like “class items” like that 🙂

That Stormforged Grapple Launcher really should be a toy ._.

    114 bacons!? Can I have some? 🙂

Those “Vanilla” WoW characters – that sounds so great, how do you go about them? Ah, maybe you wrote about it somewhere on the site already, I shall have a look around later 🙂

    Thanks for sharing!

    1. Hi Alunaria! Thanks!

My bags are organized because OCD! I like the insignia too, in order to get into the rogue class hall, I have to go to one of three buildings in Dal, and talk to an NPC, then use a door knocker. The conversation is a variation on “flash your insignia”, and then the door knocker is clickable. I admit, it’s pretty cool.

I agree about the grapple launcher as well. Especially now that we can fly. I still use mine though. Some of the world quests are pretty easy to do using grapple points, like the crow nests and stuff like that. Also, I’d be happy to give you a little bacon. 🙂

You’d have to turn back time to get a Vanilla character. It means I’ve had the character since WoW launched. My husband and I started two characters back in 2004ish, and I’ve had that Rogue and a couple of other toons since then. That means she’s been carrying a lot of inventory around for a VERY long time.

Thanks for visiting and chatting! <3

      1. Hey again 🙂

Ah, I imagine that. Hm, I guess I should really please my need for being organised as well, but I have the attention span of a goldfish in game these days. ._.

That sounds so awesome, the part about the insignia! I didn’t now. Know very little of other classes!

Hah, tysm for the bacon 😉

Aaah ok in that way, thought you were doing a “stop xp at 60” kinda deal 🙂 I played since Vanilla too, but took a long break from MoP and onwards. I recently returned, and all those class changes just made me reroll and want to learn things from scratch again. But I sure miss the old school items. Ah well, I have my memories 🙂

  4. I really hope that’s a penny pouch lurking next to what looks like a libram of constitution (might have a few of them too) because then I shall feel a lot better about the 5 penny pouches I’ve just discovered taking up bag spaces on my Mage.

Your bags are so lovely and neat. What addon causes those little blue ticks on your festival gear?

    1. It *is* a penny pouch, I wanted to keep one for posterity. And a lot of those books are from pickpocketing – but I’m not sure. I should really go check to see what they are. Most of them are books that aren’t “sellable”. I *hate* deleting things. I just feels wrong.

The addon that marks transmoggable items (the blue ticks) is called “Can I mog it?” and it’s here on curse: https://mods.curse.com/addons/wow/can-i-mog-it

It lets you know at a glance if you can use an item for transmogging on that character. It shows a minus sign (you can see it on the old Mauradon staff) if you can’t, and a blue checkmark if you’ve already learned it. I could probably live without it, but it’s a pretty awesome addon.
